Partition Packing and Rod Rings

The engineers at Cook Compression partner with customers to evaluate partition packing performance and propose tailored solutions to address potential leakage of oil into the crankcase.

As an industry leader in rod ring solutions, Cook can propose improvements across the packing case’s scraper, pressure breaker and sealing rings. For example, WU rings can provide an interference fit with the plunger for near-zero-leakage in cooling system sealing; side-loaded AT or WAT rings can provide an effective scraper; and RTV wiper rings can provide a combined wiper and gas seal.

In addition, Cook offers specialized bronze rod rings in a variety of configurations for application throughout the partition packing. Bronze rod rings undergo micrographic testing for lead distribution and hardness, with test samples kept on file.

Hyper Cups

Over decades of design and supply, Cook Compression has developed processes to improve the life of hyper cups and reduce the chance of stress failure in service.

Cook Compression hyper cups are designed so that the highest stressed portions remain in compression during the discharge stroke. The inner and outer rings of these compound cups feature an interference fit that keeps the outer ring in tension and the inner ring in compression. After assembly, the cup faces are lapped to a flatness of two light bands, and all radii and hole surfaces receive super finishing.

Hyper Cylinder Repair

Among the specialties of Cook Compression is the repair and reconditioning of cylinders in low-density polyethylene (LDPE) and other high-pressure services. Experienced technicians perform complete disassembly, inspection, component replacement, reassembly and pressure testing.
